No matter how young you are, migraines can be painful and debilitating.

Migraine is a severe, chronic neurological disease characterized by episodic attacks of moderate-to-severe headache, sensory disturbances, and other symptoms. Migraine disease represents a major cause of disability in adults and in children.

Although the peak prevalence of the condition typically occurs during adulthood, migraine disease represents one of the most common childhood ailments.

The prevalence of migraine disease in children and adolescents is estimated at 7% to 10%, and about one-third of people with migraine disease experience their first attack before adulthood. Among children, a headache is the most common symptom and the most common source of pain when experiencing a migraine attack.

An accurate and timely diagnosis of migraine disease is vital to ensure prompt treatment of the disease. Earlier diagnosis and treatment may lead to a more favorable outcome and to lowered risk of medication overuse and of progression from episodic to chronic migraine. To diagnose migraines in children, the same criteria are used to diagnose adults, but with differences in duration.

The PERISCOPE Study is evaluating an investigational product for the treatment of migraines in children and adolescents between the ages of 6 to 17. The investigational product is currently approved to treat migraines in adults.

The PERISCOPE Study will enroll over 1000 participants between the ages of 6 to 17 years old who suffer from migraines at approximately 120 study sites in the United States.

The study will include 2-3 visits to a study site in your location. Your or your child’s participation may be as short as several weeks or for up to 6 months. After completing this study, you or your child may have the opportunity to participate in the extension study for approximately 1 year.

Participants will receive all study-related visits, tests, and care from a dedicated medical team at no cost.

Who can take part in the PERISCOPE Study?

You, or your child may qualify for the PERISCOPE Study if you or they:

  • Are between the ages of 6-17 years old
  • Have been experiencing migraines for at least 6 months
  • Experience between 1 and 14 migraine attacks per month

All study-related visits, tests, and investigational product will be provided at no cost to you or your insurance. In addition, compensation for time and travel may be provided.
